Synopsis: It doesn’t matter what I try. There’s no cure for being me.
Jamie Lee wants to be normal. But his ADHD makes him feel like his brain is full of butterflies.
Elin Watts wants to be perfect. If she can be, surely her Dad will come home.
When Jamie and Elin’s families join, chaos and order collide. But perhaps they have something in common. Maybe there’s no such thing as normal, or perfect. Maybe being yourself is more than enough.

“It’s lonely being so bad all the time.”

Jamie – The Boy with the Butterfly Mind

My Review: Wow. I started this one day and finished it the next. What a beautiful tale told from the view of two children, Elin and Jamie, who are both so angry at how their lives have panned out and how their families are broken. Their lives are intertwined when Jamie moves in with his Dad, who is Elin’s Mom’s boyfriend. Jamie’s ADHD causes him to quickly lose his temper and concentration and Victoria Williamson narrates his thoughts wonderfully. Without giving the story away, the tale is full of emotional ups and downs and the reader’s heart goes out to Jamie, but also to Elin, as you read two sides of Jamie’s battle with his ADHD. It breaks my heart to think of what it must be like for all those children who are struggling with their emotions internally. A stunning, thought provoking and heart warming story and it would be brilliant to teach children about empathy, bullying and how unique we all are. I know I say this often, but this really is a must read for everyone! ✨
